Our
Membership
Christians who desire
to make Wycliffe Church their spiritual home are encouraged to become
members. The basis of membership is a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
and agreement with the Savoy Declaration of Faith. No member is received simply
on the basis of a transfer from another Church. Members are expected to be loyal
to the Church and to its doctrinal position; to be as regular in attendance at
the gatherings of the Church and involved positively in its testimony as their
personal circumstances allow; to pray for one another and to act in love towards
one another; to submit to the discipline of the Church.
Those who desire Church membership are interviewed by two of the elders
and if suitable their application for membership is then approved at a Church
meeting. Formal reception into membership normally takes place at a Communion Service.
It is emphasised that Christians who, for one reason or another, do not
become Church members are by no mans excluded from the Church’s fellowship
or its pastoral care. Nevertheless, we believe that the commitment to the
local Church which Church membership involves is something that every Christian
should consider seriously.
